Event management in SharePoint 2010

Hi guys,

I was wondering whether you know of any white papers for SP2010 that outline how it does event management? For example, if I'm hosting some sort of event and would like to see attendee lists, allow some form of wall or discussion ability around each event, maybe the ability for users to post pictures of the event etc - are all these possible? If not, is there some guide that outlines what IS possible?
