Versioning of BDC Model in Sharepoint 2010

I have created a BDC model with Oracle database as my external system.

1. I have successfully imported my BDC model into central Admin BCS application.

2. Set up the user permission for the BDC model as well as for the external content types.

3. Configured web parts in site using Business data lists and external content types.

I have modified the BDC model and incremented the entity version.

Note: <LobSystem> element no longer has an attribute called Version. So we cannot upload multiple version of BDC model as compared to MOSS 2007 ADF.

When I try to import the model again to central admin then I am getting the below error;

“Application definition import failed. The following error occurred: The IMetadataObject with Name 'XXXXXModel' has a value in Field 'name' that is duplicated. Error was encountered at or just before Line: '2' and Position: '2'.<//span></ span=""><//>”

I tried to import the BDC model using CMDLET  Import-SPBusinessDataCatalogModelwith FORCE option.

The problem with above approach is I need to re-assign the permissions for the model as well as the ECTs since my development and production environments are different with different users.

Also web parts that are configured earlier need to be re-configured. Below error is displayed;

This web part is configured to display a type of data that no longer exists in Business Data Connectivity. Open the tool pane to reconfigure the web part. Administrators, see the server log for more information.
Correlation ID:593bc7f2-d949-422c-9912-8a19244bd28f<//span></ span=""><//>

Is there any work around to this issue? How can I import multiple versions of the same BDC model?
