Having problems finishing Sharepoint Installation

I am installing SharePoint Foundation 2010 on my Windows 7 PC. I have gotten through the actual installation. It told me at the end there was an error, but the log file said it was successfully installed. However, I never got the wizard popup to complete the process. I already have SQL Server 2008 R2 installed, so I moved on to the step where you are supposed to run C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\BIN\psconfigui.exe, but all that happens when I do that is an xml configuration file comes up in the editor. Help - where do I go from here to get the installation completed ?
