moving a sharepoint database to a different drive

We have Sharepoint 2010 and SQL Server 2008R2 on the same server.  Due to not enough disk space we need to move one of the databases to a different drive.  I thought I would move the User Profile Service Application_SyncDB database which is very large.  Is it as simple as moving a regular SQL database?  Like detach, move the files and attach?  Or is there any special concerns due to it being a Sharepoint database? For example, do I need to do this through Sharepoint Administration, stop any services, take all of the Sharepoint farm down?
