Reports - the number of documents created per user and Approved per user.

Hi - had a request to create these reports and was wondering if anyone can point me somewhere to get started with this. Web analytics - even if it were enabled won't yield that kind of info so I guess it comes down to querying SQL

If anyone has any ideas - that would be great
