Trying to Setup SharePoint 2010 Trial and Getting Weird Error

I installed SharePoint SharePointServer on Windows 7.  I click on 2010 Products Configuration and get Configuration Failed.

Then, I tried SharePoint 2010 Central Administration and I get this message. 

IIS is definitely installed and configured correctly.  That was the problem initially, but I've resolved that.  I'm not an expert, at all, in the area of SharePoint.  Can someone give me some guidance and help me get this setup and working?
