Greetings, I am going to do my best to explain what we are doing in our environment and if any additional information is needed please let me know. I appreciate any assistance I can get.
We are currently trying to move our SharePoint 2010 databases that reside on Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (SP2) to Microsoft SQL Server 2012 - 11.0.5343.0
At this point we are only doing testing and our DBA has used the backup/restore method to copy everything over to the new server using this article
http://thuansoldier.net/?p=2891
Next I went into Central Admin and performed the following as indicated in the articleopen Central Administration and then click Application Management. HitSpecify the default database server under Databases section and restarted both servers Central Admin and Web App.
The problem seem to be that the FarmConfig database is still pointing to the old server location and I have no idea how to change this.
There appears to be may articles out there that refer to this process however it can get real confusing since everyone seems to have different ways of doing things.
If anyone can help me with getting the FarmConfg database pointed to the new server I would really appreciate it.
Kim
