List Migration WSS 3 to SP2010

I'm trying to migrate a list from WSS 3.0 over to our new SP 2010 site. I'm saving as a template w/content then, modifying the version in the xml, then recreating the template in the new site. However, this brings over the WSS 3.0 page formatting. Any assistance on how to migrate the list properly into the new site while keeping the new styles of SP 2010 would be appreciated.
