How to configure an account as a Logon to a Service for use in SharePoint

Hi, 

I have installed Symantec for SharePoint using an domain account. However, the service associated with this gets stopped now and then. I need to know how to make this account Log on as a Service. I tried changing in the Local Security Policy, but it did not work.
