Hello. I posted this question quite some time back but haven't been able to figure it out.
I have a link in my SharePoint site that points to a folder on a file server. For almost all of our users this works for them. However, we recently had one user who clicks on the link and nothing at all happens. It doesn't even give an error message. I was able to duplicate this on a 2008 R2 server. http://links work without a problem. It's the file:// links. Both systems gving the problem are 64bit. Most of our users are 32bit. however I did find a user running Win7 64bit that the link works for. i found another 64bit machine ( a server) and it doesn't work their either. So 3 out of 4 machines running 64bit, and the link doesn't work. Any ideas if this is the cause or if it could be something else.
I have also created the link again, created it in a new site, and created the link to another folder. No luck. It's not permissions because the user can access it if he tries on a 32 bit, but on the 64bit we have the problem again.
Anyone have any ideas?
