Server Farm Product and Patch Status: does installing Missing Locally items change anything but local server?

I'm adding a server to a farm, with numerous Missing Locally items and some that ID items not installed on other farm servers.

Does installing Missing Local items affect anything outside of the server they're being installed on? The config db, other farm server config files, etc?
