is it possible to make the due date mandatory in OOTB approval workflow?

I have implemented the OOTB sharepoint 2010 approval workflow in my doc.lib , in this once the end user uploads the document and once published, I am giving it as wokflow started. here after selecting the approvers and flling otehr details, I need to select teh due date , I mean i want to make the due date as mandatory selection in the default initiation form.

is it possible to make the due date mandatory in through some way or other? because I am having subsites are getting created on a weekly basis , so I cant determine , cant make changes to the sub site template with any modifications.

inside these sub sites created from a custom template my doc libs are residing.

by default due date is set to 01/01/01 which is wrong date.

either I need to make this as a mandatory column.
