How to restore a Farm backup on a newly server for sharepoint 2010

Hi,

I have cloned a production sharepoint 2010 to form a user acceptance testing(UAT) environment for testing or development purpose . After cloned, the new virtual machine (VM) computer name and IP address were changed. For new VM, "HTTP 503 Service unavailable" prompted when i opened the old production URL in browser. I gave up this method .

Please help me verify whether the following steps can successufully restore the backup.

Step 1:  backup the sharepoint 2010 in central administration - Farm backup (FULL) all content + configuration.

Step 2: Install sharepoint 2010 standard in Windows server 2012 R2 (Any service patch required ?) SP2 ??

Step 3: Create a new farm in central administration

Step 4: From central administration - Restore the backup from step 1

Anything I should take care of /pay attention to ?

Any idea/suggestion would be much apprepriate and helpful. Thanks in advance.
