i've doubled and thripled check the SQL Server Roles, I also tried using the the Sharepoint admin account (Which is a administrative accout just used for sharepoint) added users to master db and tried other suggestions a limited search return suggested
SP Server is WIN2k8 with all preREQ's and fully updated was running MOSS2007 just fine
SQL Instance is 2008 Standard w/SP1
