Orphaned Sharepoint Users in Groups

We've finally come to the point in our SharePoint lifecycle that we have a substantial number of orphaned (deleted) AD users who still appear in SharePoint groups.    I found a reference to this script http://www.sharepointclowns.com/2011/04/find-and-delete-orphaned-users/ which seems to imply it will fix it.   I have downloaded the script and made the described modifications (to specify my AD controller and Site Collection URL), however it only creates a text file of all of my users.   Which is not how the instructions describe it's function. 

Is there another way to do this?  Or can someone explain why the script is just returning a list of all of my users?   I have tried to contact the author but have gotten no response.
