SQL Server 2008 R2 Setup Error - Not all privileges or groups referenced are assigned to the caller

Hi Guys,

I have a frustrating error which I keep getting when trying to install SQL Server 2008 R2 Express on Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter.

I'm logged in to the server as domain admin and run the installation file to install SQL.

Created a new named instance called SPSQL.

Selected Mixed Mode authentication and entered in the SP_SQL useraccount to the server admins.

Set the data and log files to use E and F partitions.

Then selected install reporting services however do not configure it.

It then takes me to the install SQL bit and I get the error " Not all privileges or groups referenced are assigned to the caller" the install is like 90% complete and I notice that just under the progress bar when the error is displayed it is working on something called " SqlEngineDBStartConfigAction_install_configrc_Cput64.

I get the option to try and retry the failed action or click cancel to stop the action however both leave SQL unresponsive.

I have tried uninstalling SQL, rebooting the server, deleting all paths locations relating to SQL in program files, program files(86), and partitions where i was going to store my databases and log files seperatetly. I then copied the intallation .exe file to the desktop and tried rerunning the install however i get the error again.

Can anyone please shed some light on a possible solution?

Ive tried the following these articles but with no joy as yet:

http://www.bradg.co.za/?p=12 - Can confirm that administrator has access to all relevant policies

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlexpress/thread/de0584d3-6ecb-4ef7-a29f-7f5566f99e20 I can confirm I am running the installation on the local C drive.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks guys
