We have a single content database size which increased form 100GB. We have approx. 130 site collections in the content database and frequency of creating new content database is like 1 in 2 months.
As we are not frequently creating new site collections, if we create a new content database, then, new site collection data will go in the newly created content database.
My question is about the newly added data in the existing site collection that is still pointing to old content database.
- Will newly added data to the existing site collection will go to new content database or old content database.
- if newly added data is added in the old content database, then, creating a new content database will solve the problem of large content database? If no, any other approach like we need to migrate site collection to new content database?
