We have had this SP 2010 test farm up for about 2 months. Last week, I applied the lastest cumulative patch to the site. It appeared to apply without a problem. I rebooted the system, but did not get a chance to access it after the reboot completed. Today when I attempt to access the site, I get a service unavailable page from IIS
When I look at the 14hive logs, the system ran fine until Saturday afternoon. Then, the following errors began:

When I look at the IIS manager application, it shows the SharePoint 80 web site stopped. When I start it, it soon goes into the stopped state.
The cental admin site comes up and displays.
I rebooted the system and the same behavior is seen. There are not many people with access to the farm, and they were not working over the weekend.
I notice in central admin > search administration that the search server service is offline because of a logon failure. I am trying to locate the screen in SP 2010 central admin to show me the login being used for the search server service so that I can track that backwards.
I see the error telling me the login failed because "Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication." I just don't know how that happens. Once I track down the specific login, then I can contact security to ask about the login itself.
