Hello
I have just taken over an existing SharePoint 2010 environment, with 1 WFE, 1 Application Server and 1 shared SQL Server (Yes, other application databases are on the same SQL Server!)
Whoever installed SharePoint 2010, installed it on the SQL Server 2008 R2 too. Now, when I patched the WFE and Application Server with the April 2013 patches, it worked fine except it displays a critical error saying that the patches need to be installed
on all the servers in the Farm. This means the SQL Server needs the same patch.
I would like to know what to do in this instance?:
1. Uninstall SharePoint 2010 completely from the SQL Server? Would this involve removing the SQL Server from the Farm? Would this break the Farm?
2. Install the patches on the SQL Server too and then run Central Admin Wizard?
I am looking at moving all the SharePoint 2010 databases to a dedicated SQL Server too.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Yoshi
