Sharepoint 2010 List View for Manager to see Items assigned to his resources

Hi,

I have a SharePoint 2010 list, where Items created are assigned to, say User1.

Now, I need to configure a view such that only User1 and his Manager can see that particular Item.

So if User1, User2,...are Reporting to Manager1,.....User1..2 can see onl Items meant for them, and Manager1 can see items meant for User1..2

Please let me know what shall be the approach.
