Hello,
I'm preparing a new SharePoint list that is experiencing a problem with the DataSheet view. Whenever a new row is inserted in the DataSheet view, Internet Explorer crashes. The list currently has about 500 items on it. I've tried everything I can think of and can't figure out why this is occuring. Here's the background:
Technical structure: SharePoint 2010 Enterprise, Office 2010 Standard and Professional (fully patched), Windows 7 Enterprise (fully patched). There are no Office 2003 components installed on the computers.
Problem Scenario: After entering data into a new row in DataSheet view, and then tabbing or clicking off the row, the record is attempted to be updated on the server. The status goes to pending and the icon changes to the side-to-side update pending icon. Immediately thereafter IE crashes. Importantly, this is happening on three different computers, and this does NOT occur on other lists on the same SharePoint site.
Failed diagnostic steps:
- DataSheet view works properly on other lists in the same site.
- I've created new views (not copying existing views) with only the item Title column. Inserting a new row failed. I then created a view with only the Comments column (making Title not required) and it still failed.
- I deleted all existing rows thinking data in an existing row was at fault. This did not resolve the issue.
- I've repaired Office 2010.
- Rebooted multiple times.
Any other suggestions?
