Move Sharepoint 2010 to a new Front End Server

Hello,

When we upgraded are sql server to 2012;we use an alias to link/move the databases to sql 2012. Having an alias in place make things confusing. Is there a way to create a new instance of sharepont WFE and link to the SQL 2012 without using an alias. Because when we run queries on new database Sql 2012 to reference a database on the old server. Sql thinks we are referencing the SQL 2012 instead of referencing the old database server. Any thoughts?
