Error installing Sharepoint Foundation 2010 on Windows 7 - IIS not found

Hi there,

I REALLY hope somebody can help me shed some light on this, i'm getting very very frustrated.

I'm installing Sharepoint Foundation 2010 on Windows 7 Ultimate. During the Configuration Wizard part, right after it asks me if its okay to restart IIS etc. i get the error:

"Internet Information Services is not installed. You must have Internet Information Services installed in order to use the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard."

I have most certainly installed IIS 7 and tested default homepage in my browser, its up and running. Looking at the log, i get this:

Entering function PreRequisiteChecks.IsRightVersionOfIis
Caught an exception when trying to get the version of IIS.  We treat this as IIS not being installed
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80005000): Unknown error (0x80005000)
   at System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry.Bind(Boolean throwIfFail)
   at System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry.Bind()
   at System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry.get_SchemaClassName()
   at Microsoft.SharePoint.PostSetupConfiguration.PreRequisiteChecks.IsRightVersionOfIis(Int32& current, Int32& minimumAllowed)
   at Microsoft.SharePoint.PostSetupConfiguration.PreRequisiteChecks.IsIisInstalled()

I've tried looking for errors related to 0x80005000 but its a mix of message queing and AD and etc. etc. Does anyone have ANY clue???

FYI, i have the following pre-requisites installed:

  • ADO.NET Data Services Update Win7
  • Windows6.1-KB976462-v2-x64
  • Microsoft Sync Framework 1.0 (actually trying to install says i already have a newer version installed)

ANY IDEAS???
