Web Part not showing in Rich Text area

Hi, I'm trying to add a choice filter webpart and a sharepoint list filter webpart to rich text area on a site page in a team site. When I add web part it never displays! I can see the code added when I edit the html view but it always remains hidden. Any ideas why this will be? When I add ?contents=1 I can see my webparts listed in the webpart maintenance view. Very odd.
