SharePoint 2010 Task Emails

Hello all,

I am attempting to set up a task that emails the person assigned when the task is created and any changes are made to the specific task. I assume this is done through a workflow as I do not see a way to notify in the creation of the task. Can anyone point me to a step by step on this or give me some pointers?
