spconfig database

I'm disconnecting existing SharePoint 2010 farm and creating new server farm providing  new config database.

before doing so do i need to first manually delete Program Files\Common files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\CONFIG  folder ? or do i need to delete entire 14 folder ?  because i dont want the current server to refer any of the old config files after i changed to new config database.

Appreciate any help!
