Load balanced Front end servers behavior in case of one front end server failure.

Hi, 

In my environment we have 2 front ends and are load balanced. I want to know when one of the WFE server fails what are the alerts we get, is there end user performance issues in SharePoint sites or search or in case of any service applications hosted on the front end servers.
