Sharepoint DMZ

SharePoint 2010:

Is this possible ?

SharePoint External site will be accessed from wfe in DMZ.  but wfe in dmz  should talk to application server which is in internal corp network and  application serve will talk to SQL which is also in internal corp network

SharePoint web front server external site(DMZ)-->Application server which is Internal Corp Network--> Sql (which is Internal Corp Network).

we wanted to avoid direct communication from DMZ to SQL(Internal) for which we wanted to by pass through application sever which is in internal corp network.

Is this possible ? Appreciate any help.
