Sharepoint Upgrade with no new hardware

Hi, I need to upgrade a Sharepoint 2010 instance and I don't have a separate second server to install 2013 to do a database attach upgrade. The current server has Sharepoint 2010 and Sql Server 2008 on it and I need to end up with Sharepoint 2013 and Sql Server 2008 on this same server. Does anyone have the step by step guide to do this. Also if I managed to get a temporary virtual environment would that help things? Many thanks.
