Adding Approval Workflow to the Sharepoint Resource Booking

i saw this guide about adding approval workflow for the resource booking.. i am unsure how do i set the resource to  booked if approved and on the other hand make it available for booking if it was rejected.

tried to use the OOB Approval Workflow and the Publishing Workflow but both of them did not meet my requirement of having the resource available for booking if the Approver reject the booking.
