Greetz!
I'm setting up a dev environment in a secure environment on a PC and will be using Hyper-V for virtualization. I have Windows 7 as my Host OS as we are not permitted to use a server OS in our dev environment. I will not have any internet or network connectivity on this box nor will I ever. It's not permitted. The only communication will be between virtual machines and the host box.
I will need to run 3 VMs (AD, SharePoint, SQL and possible a fourth running Oracle) at a time. Assuming I have enough RAM, CPU and hard drive space would it make sense to upgrade the NIC card to something approaching a server class card if not an outright server class card? I seem to recall a sys admin making the suggestion that the NIC might be a pinch point when using a consumer market PC as a SharePoint development rig and that getting a better NIC could help. If you could provide a rationale for why or why not I'd be most grateful!
Thanks
