We have set up the majority of users in our SP site to be part of the 'Members' group and have set the Members group to have only the 'Contribute' permissions level so that they can add and edit documents and list items but not change the design of the site and site pages.
However, when a user who is only part of the 'Members' group logs in, they also have the option to edit the page ("Edit" link is visible in the upper right corner of the window). Our expectation is that functionality would only be available to people with the Design or Full Control permission level. Is it expected behavior for a user to have the 'Edit' link when they only have Contribute permissions?
What is the appropriate permission level that allows a user to add or edit documents and list items but does not allow the user to add, delete, or modify pages on the site?
