We are using SP 2010 service pack 2.
We have the lists set to default to opening files in their native external application instead of opening within browser pages.
A user reports to me that when he attempts to open an Excel spreadsheet, he gets the error "To open this workbook, your computer must have a version of Microsoft Excel installed and your Web browser must support opening files directly from Excel in the browser."
He gives me the URL. Using IE, I go to the doc library, click on the spreadsheet, and it opens in Excel without a problem. He then tells me he is using Chrome. I don't have Chrome at that time, so I try to open the spreadsheet in Firefox. it works fine there. I install the latest Google Chrome. I go to the URL. I click on the file. It opens the file in the browser page instead of in Excel. There is a button on the page that says "Open in Excel". I press the button. I get the above error message.
I know that according to microsoft, Google chrome is supported.
Does anyone know what to do to fix this issue for chrome?
Thank you.
