what impact if standalone sharepoint 2010 foundation server join the domain

Does anyone can advice or help for the following question?

What impact if one sharepoint 2010 foundation server join the domain? How to plan it accordingly before performing this operation? it is production server, which it is a live site for external client.

e.g. change system account from local to domain account
