How to display pictures with the user profile?

Hello Community

    Using Sharepoint 2010 Server and he UI a User Profile was created and it
works fine.

    In the user profile you can click Edit My Profile and there is a button
that say choose picture.

    My picture is located on the c:\ drive and when I upload it and perform
a search it appears with no problem.

    It is said that this creates 3 thumbnails that are stored in a folder
named "Profile Pictures" in a picture library named "User Photos" under the MySiteHost
site collection.

    I created a My Site Host location at "http://Intranet" and created location as "personal".

    Where are the "Profile Pictures" folder or the "User Photos" library created at.

    It is said that the thumbnails are stored in the user profile database.

     I haven't added anything to active directory so I don't know if this has
any connection to this.  

    So the question is how do I get this the thumbnail pictures to show with
the other profile information when a search is perfromed by a user?
