How does the Automatic Password Change work within SharePoint 2010?

I have 3 SharePoint 2010 Enterprise servers. Each SharePoint install is in its own farm. None of the SharePoint servers are joined in a farm. I have used 7 managed accounts for the Windows Services, Web Application Pool, Service application Pool, and the Farm Account for all 3 of these servers. I like to use the automatic password change process with SharePoint for these accounts so passwords are change automatically.

If I enable the Automatic Password Change on an account (say the search service account) on one of the SharePoint servers, how will this impact the other two servers?

Do I need to restart the Search Services on the other servers? Do I need to enable the Automatic Password Change on the account on the servers? I am not sure how this will work within my SharePoint environment.
