remove user profile custom attribute value for a given user - Powershell

We have a custom (multi-value) user profile attribute called "Degrees".  During user profile synchronization I see an error message for my profile:

"Site <our site URL>, User <my username>: failed to synch portal property Degrees.  Exception follows: Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.PropertyNotDefinedException: Property Not Defined: Degrees.
An administrator must create this property in the Profile Administration tool"

This property is definitely defined and is used for many other users in their user profile and I only get the error message for my user profile.  So I have a feeling the issue might be with the property value and not the property itself.

I would like to remove this property value from the set of properties for my account only.  This means either setting the value to null or removing that particular property attribute from my user profile (not from all user profiles).  Keep in mind that this is a multi-value property and I have multiple values in it.  How can I do this with Powershell?

thanks,
