Email a link, Delete from ribbon, Open in Sharepoint Designer - All features that will not work and cause the same Error.

I have looked at countless other posts regarding the same/similar issues, and the only solution posted in every instance is to turn off extended protection in IIS (which works great apparently), yet no where actually gave an explanation as towhy disabling this security features is actually is required.

Can anyone please give me a solution that does not involve turning off extended protection? If not, why is it that these features will not work with extended protection enabled in IIS?
