Why FS4SP indexes a SP2007 site as if it was a normal "web" site

Hello all !

I'm trying to set up FS4SP to index an existing SP2007 site.

I've setup a "Sharepoint Sites" Content Source in my FS4SP Connector service, given "Full Read" access to my default crawling account on my SP2007 web appication through web app policies and launched a full crawl.

I noticed that only the content that is accessible, directly on indirectly, through my site home page (via hyperlinks) is crawled and that no crawled properties gets extracted, even though my content as metadata columns associated with it.

In other word, the crawler indexes my content as if I had configured my content source as "Web Sites".

Note that none of my lists are "hidden".

Also (this might be unrelated), if I link my home page to one of my lists, only the list get indexed, none of the items in the list are (so no dispform?id=xxx in crawl logs).

To give you a bit of context, here are some scenarios I tried:

- I created a brand new web application with a Publishing site collection on the same SP2007 farm, indexing behaved NORMALLY (indexed content not linked from the home page, indexed items in lists, extracted crawled properties, etc.)

- I've created an extra site collection under the web application (which had just one originally) that causes problem.  The crawler didn't touch that new site collection initially so I created content sources to index the site collections individually.  My new site collection got indexed ALMOST normally.  The content not linked from the home page was indexed BUT none of my list items got indexed

- I finally backed up the above mentionned new site collection and restored it into a brand new web application. Indexation finally worked as expected.

Some literature pointed to the fact that the crawl might have issues if the SP2007 site default zone was using anything else than NTLM, but it's already the case.

Can anyone tell me :

- Why this particular site collection is indexed as a "web site" ?

- Why any site collections under this particular web application do not have list items indexed ?

Many thanks and sorry for the long post :)
