SharePoint 2013: The request channel timed out while waiting for a reply

Hello,

I get these 2 errors occurring when I first start the website.  I have SharePoint 2013 on Windows 2012 R2 server:

Error 8306:  An exception occurred when trying to issue security token: The request channel timed out while waiting for a reply after 00:00:48.5446736. Increase the timeout value passed to the call to Request or increase the SendTimeout value on the Binding. The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout.

Error 6398: The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.Internal.PersistedNavigationTermSetSyncJobDefinition (ID 23f83ea8-93f0-4d1e-ae18-6334fbd8b73a) threw an exception. More information is included below.

I have to refresh the page a couple of times and then the site comes up.

Can you suggest things that I can do to help resolve these problems?
