User unable to see list items

I have added a user recently to the list as a reader/contributor, but in the default view of the list, this particular user does not see anything, its blank, even though he sees the columns and he is able to browse through the other views where he can see some items in those views.  I have confirmed that this particular view does not have any [me] conditional filtering and also there are no individual broken permission levels for each items.  Please help.
