I have been researching this error for quite sometime. I see I am not the only one with this problem however, It seems that I am running the version that should be working.
Most of the people having this problem are running Windows 7 64bit and Office 2010 64bit. I am having the same exact issue with Windows XP 32 bit SP3.
When I go to my Sharepoint site and attempt to edit it I get an Error.
" The list cannot be displayed in Datasheet view for one or more of the following reasons: A datasheet component compatible with Windows SharePoint Services is not installed, your browser does not support ActiveX controls, or support for ActiveX controls is disabled. "
Now I have verified that I have my active X controls set up properly. I also have admin rights to edit the site. I have also put my Sharepoint site in my Trusted zone, and verified the Active X controls for the trusted zone as well. There all turned on. I have tried the Access Database Engine Plugin both 2010 and 2007. I have verified I have the proper modules installed in Office 2010 Pro. I have tried uninstalling them and reinstalling them. I have also done repairs on Office 2010 as well. I have tried disabling the Sharepoint add-ons in IE 8 and just deleting them entirely. At one point I actually managed to get the Datasheet view to come up after deleting the Class ID: for all of the OWSSUPP.DLL related add-ons but it was blank. So I repaired Office and it went right back to the Error msg again having replaced all fo the add-ons for IE. I have also confirmed this working on the brother machine with the same exact hardware / build except it still has 2007 installed and only some 2010 peices installed.
I'm at my wits end on this one. I'd really like to get this fixed. All help is appreciated.
