The Excel documents opens in the background

Hello,

I have a SharePoint 2007 environment where when I try to open a Powerpoint File and update it and close it , an Excel file opens in hidden state which was opened earlier in the doc library. The Excel file opens in the background repeatedly. Any Ideas Please.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
