SharePoint Single Sign Office 365 and On premise

We are trying to achieve single sign on between On premise SharePoint and office 365 SharePoint.

Will federate the on premise AD Users so that they can access Office 365.

UPN of AD Users does not match the domain of office 365

Will this be a bottle neck in achieving Single sign on?
