Don´t know if this actully is in the wrong forum, but in my case this is the FIM service that comes with SharePoint 2010 that is the issue here.
I got a bunch of event 3 error events in my event viewer that is pointing to the FIM Indentity Manager. I have the CU 2010 for June and Aug deployed. The synchronization is working but it´s not that nice to have all these events in the event viewer. The thing is that they have appeared after deploying the CU updates as I can remember.
