Sharepoint 2010 failing at step 3...

Hi,

Adding a new server to my SharePoint 2010 farm, all pre-reqs are installed, but getting an error about failing to connect to SQL DB. Have made sure all aliases are set on each machine and instance is running on SP SQL box. Any ideas please ? The error section of the log is:
