I have been researching on this almost a week now and I can't find anything on this issue out there.
We have a three tier (Dev, Staging and Production) farm SharePoint environment. We are still on SharePoint 2010 patched up to SP2 + February 2015 CU. The issue is present only on our staging farm, everywhere - it can be reproduced on any web application / site collection, etc. The farm has two web front end servers (load-balanced) and one application server.
The issue:
- We create a new custom list.
- Add a new multi line text column [Select 'Rich text (Bold, italics, text alignment, hyperlinks)' option]
- Add a new item to the list. This works as expected, on the new form you see all the fields blank as it should. Save the new item.
- Go back to the item in view/display form and we can see the data entered in all the fields. we're good so far.
- Go and click Edit (switch to edit mode) - the form displays all the data in the other fields except for the Rich text box. it displays nothing.
The issue is new to us, it suddenly started to show and it only happens on our staging environment. No major maintenance have been done on the server(s) other than Windows server updates, but these were applied to the other farms (Dev and production) without any issues.
Any idea on what might be causing this?
I am tempted to apply the next update available (March 2015 CU), but i am hesitant to do so if this update wouldn't address this specific issue.
Any advice on how to troubleshoot this, will be appreciated.
