Adding an Oracle database as a data source using Sharepoint Designer 2010

We’ve followed the instructions on the link above using various valid connection stings but have not managed to successfully create an Oracle datasource and are running into errors like this :-

The Oracle client software is installed on both the SPD client & the Sharepoint 2010 Server as is the Oracle provider.

We are able to connect to the Oracle database with the provider using an ASP Visual control within Designer.

Can you confirm this functionality works and do you have a working example?

Are there any versioning incompatibilities?

Server : Sharepoint 2010 on Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit with Oracle Client 11.2.0 (Installed to C:\oracle)

Client: Sharepoint Designer 2010 on Windows 7 Enterprise 32bit
