How to have NO DEFAULT Content Type (with multiple content types)? (SharePoint 2010)

Hi there,

In my SP 2010 list - I have four content types. 
When a user clicks on New Item and the arrow under it - he gets an option to select a content type. Which is good.
BUT
If the user simply clicks on the New Item button or the Add New Item at the bottom he is automatically taken to default content type with no option to change it. It is so confusing and irritating for our business users.

How to have NO DEFAULT Content Type so users are always forced to select one?
