Missing Data After Upgrade From WSS 3

We upgraded from WSS 3 to SharePoint Foundation 2010. The WSS 3 site used the Absence and Vacation template (one of the FAB 40 templates). We installed and deployed the 2010 template version and created a site collection using that template. The problem is that the workflows and vacation data from WSS 3 were apparently lost by upgrading to SP 2010. Is there any way to resolve this so we don't have to recreate everything? Eventually we will upgrade the site to SharePoint Foundation 2013.
